Fleet EV charging

Depot charging and employee home charging for electric bakkies, vans and pool cars, planned so every vehicle starts the shift ready.

Planning fleet charging

A fleet charging plan starts with your vehicles, not the chargers. We look at daily distances, parking times, where vehicles stay overnight and how many arrive in the next year or two. Then a site assessment at your depot checks the supply, the DB boards and the parking layout.

For most light commercial fleets the answer is overnight AC charging at the depot using commercial AC chargers, plus home charging for vehicles that go home with staff. A DC fast charger earns its place only where vehicles work long or back-to-back shifts.

Installation and reporting

Our registered electricians handle the installation and certify every circuit. We then set up driver or vehicle IDs, reporting and load management, so you can see energy use per vehicle and keep demand within your supply.

If you’re working through a broader fleet electrification plan, our page for fleets and logistics covers the bigger picture. When you’re ready, request a quote for a pilot.

Why it works

What you get with fleet from StrataCharge

  • Ready for every shift

We size depot charging around your vehicles' daily kilometres and dwell times, not guesswork.

  • Home charging for take-home vehicles

Staff who take vehicles home can charge there, with usage tracked so you can reimburse them accurately.

  • One view of energy use

Smart chargers report energy per vehicle or driver, which helps with cost allocation and fleet reporting.

  • Load managed at the depot

Load management staggers charging overnight, so a growing fleet doesn't trip your supply.

  • Phased roll-out

Start with a pilot group of vehicles and add chargers as the fleet changes over.

How we plan it

Charging designed around your routes

We look at how far each vehicle drives, how long it's parked and where it sleeps. That decides the mix of depot AC, home charging and, where turnaround is tight, a DC charger. You get a plan that fits your operation and your supply.

Our process

How it works

One team from first enquiry to a working, certified charger. You always know what happens next.

  1. 1

    Enquiry

Tell us about your property, your vehicles and what you want to achieve. Photos of your DB board help.

  2. 2

    Site assessment

We check your supply, available load, cable route and mounting position, on site or from photos.

  3. 3

    Quote

A written, itemised quote: charger, installation, any upgrades and the CoC. No surprises later.

  4. 4

    Installation

Registered electricians install a dedicated, protected circuit and mount the charger neatly.

  5. 5

    Commissioning & handover

We configure the charger, test it with you, hand over the CoC and show you how to use it.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Still unsure? Speak with StrataCharge by phone, WhatsApp or email.

What kind of fleets do you work with?

We focus on light commercial vehicles, pool cars and sales fleets: bakkies, panel vans and passenger cars. For heavy trucks and buses we can advise, but those projects usually need specialist high-power infrastructure.

Do we need DC fast chargers at the depot?

Often not. Vehicles parked overnight usually charge fully on AC. DC makes sense for vehicles that run more than one shift a day or have short breaks between routes.

How do we reimburse staff for home charging?

A smart charger at the driver's home records the energy used for each session. You can use those reports to reimburse the driver according to your own policy.

Can the depot supply handle a whole fleet?

That's what the site assessment checks. Load management can stagger charging overnight, and if a supply upgrade is needed we'll tell you early so you can plan for it.

Can we start small?

Yes. Most fleets start with a pilot of [X] vehicles. We design the cabling so you can add chargers as more vehicles arrive.
